How We Built a Premium Personal Branding Website for a Google AI Engineer | Anthemite

Building a personal brand online for a senior technical professional is a different challenge entirely from building a typical business website. It’s not about selling a product — it’s about communicating depth, authority, and credibility to the right audience at a glance. Here’s how we approached it for one of our clients, a Google AI Engineer with a remarkable body of work.

The Brief

Our client is an Engineer and Technical Lead at Google, working on generative AI-driven recommendation systems for YouTube advertising. His work spans published academic research, industry judging, technical mentorship, and large-scale distributed systems — a career that deserved a home online that matched its caliber.

He needed more than a resume page. He needed a personal brand.

The Design Direction

The brief was clear: modern, premium, and clean. Nothing generic. Nothing that looked like a template.

We opened with a dark hero banner — deep navy with a subtle grid overlay and soft radial gradients — giving the site an immediate sense of technical sophistication. The profile photo sits in a gradient ring with a live pulsing green dot signaling active presence. First impressions matter, and this one communicates authority before a single word is read.

Below the hero, the site transitions to pure white. Clean sections, generous whitespace, thin borders, and Poppins as the typeface throughout — geometric, legible, and professional without feeling sterile.

The goal was a site that feels like it belongs in the same conversation as the world’s top technical professionals.

The Structure

We organized the content into clear, purposeful sections that tell a complete story:

– Hero — profile photo, name, title, full bio, key stats (570+ citations, H-index 12, 28 corporate honors)
– Recognition & Professional Standing — awards, certifications, and professional associations
– Original Contributions of Major Significance — leadership roles and their real-world impact
– Scholarly Authorship & Technical Review — published papers, book reviews, and citation metrics
– Judging Work of Others & Media Coverage — hackathon judging, peer review, defensive publications, and media features
– Blog — a space for ongoing writing and insights
– Mentions — a dedicated page for media features, citations, and external recognition

Every section was built as a standalone Elementor HTML widget — clean, portable, and easy to update as the client’s career evolves.

The Details That Make the Difference

What separates a good personal website from a great personal brand is intentionality in the details.

We displayed key academic metrics — Google Scholar citations, H-index, and i10-index — prominently in the hero stats bar so visitors immediately grasp the scale of the research output. Paper links, defensive publication links, YouTube video links, and certification credentials are all live and wired up — nothing is left as a placeholder.

The Mentions page mirrors the blog layout with a card grid, filters, and a featured mention slot — giving the client a professional space to showcase every time their name appears in the world.

The color system is restrained and intentional — deep navy for the hero, pure white for content, blue accents for interactive elements, and green for success states. Nothing competes for attention. Everything serves the content.

The Result

A website that feels as accomplished as the person it represents. Clean, fast, credible, and completely ownable — a digital home that grows with the client’s career.
