Bringing a 15‑Year Performing Arts School Online for the First Time

A fresh digital identity for Shubham, a School of Performing Arts in Bangalore, showcasing classical dance, music, festivals, and community under one structured experience.

Shubham, a School of Performing Arts

Shubham is a Bangalore-based institution dedicated to Odissi, Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Hindustani and Carnatic vocals, Tabla, and Sitar, with a strong focus on tradition, performance, and community building.

The challenge

From word-of-mouth to web presence

For over 15 years, Shubham grew entirely through performances, festivals, and personal recommendations, but had no website. All their rich history—productions, festivals, faculty profiles, student achievements, and grants—existed only in documents and memories.

They needed a first website that could:

  1. Present Shubham as a serious classical arts institution.
  2. Help parents and students understand what they can learn.
  3. Give collaborators, sponsors, and press a single, credible reference point.

Our approach

Information architecture and content design

Structured the website around clear story-led sections: About Shubham, Our Journey, Our Space, Our Community, Our Team, Ensemble, Yatra, Akhanda Arpan, Stauti, Rules & Regulations, Sponsorship, Press Highlights, and Contact.

Converted long, narrative write-ups into focused pages:

  1. “Our Journey” as a timeline of milestones, productions, and growth.
  2. Detailed biographies for founder and faculty to build trust.
  3. Dedicated festival pages for Yatra and Akhanda Arpan, explaining concept, featured artists, and invitations for young artists and sponsors.

Clear user paths and actions

  1. Designed simple flows for four key actions:
  2. Enquire about classes (dance and music disciplines).
  3. Request collaboration with Shubham Ensemble (linked to a Google form).
  4. Apply for sponsorship/partnership for festivals (sponsorship form).
  5. Rent the studio space for rehearsals, workshops, or performances (space-for-hire form).
  6. Added straightforward contact and enquiry sections so first-time visitors can reach the team without friction.

Visual and brand direction

  1. Used a theatre-inspired, minimal aesthetic so content and performance photography stand out.
  2. Highlighted key productions and festivals (Ritu Ranga, Namaran, Vivriti, Pareshti, Vibhasma; Yatra, Akhanda Arpan, Stauti) to make the site feel like a living archive rather than just a brochure.
  3. Gave testimonials their own space to showcase real experiences from students, parents, and guest artists.

SEO foundations

  1. Crafted focused meta titles and short meta descriptions for each page to target local and niche searches (e.g., Odissi classes in Bangalore, Kathak school, Indian classical music training).
  2. Set up clean, human-readable URLs and internal links between related sections (e.g., festivals to Sponsorship, Our Space to Space Rental, Our Team to Ensemble).

The outcome

A complete digital home for Shubham

  1. Shubham now has its first ever website: a single, reliable source that explains who they are, what they teach, and how to connect with them.
  2. Prospective students and parents can quickly understand disciplines, class formats, rules, and contact options.
  3. Collaborators and sponsors get clear information on festivals like Yatra and Akhanda Arpan, recent grants, and ways to support.
  4. The studio’s “Space for Hire” now has visibility, opening an additional enquiry channel for rehearsals and small performances.
